Hi, I’m Sarah.
I am committed to compassionate, thoughtful, individualized care. My years of experience have given me the skills to help people to achieve their best life while dealing with health concerns and stress.
I help people feel good enough to do their favorite activities, spend quality time with family and friends, participate in their communities, and have greater resilience and peace in their lives.
My Background
I have been practicing massage therapy and bodywork for 31 years and have been a Licensed Acupuncturist and TCM herbalist for 15 years. I specialize in treating people with chronic pain and complex health conditions. After 23 years in clinical practice and teaching at Northwestern Health Sciences University I have launched my solo practice.
I came to massage and bodywork in my 20s out of a profound curiosity about what it means to live in the human body and a desire to be able to help people. My early academic background was in Creative Writing including a BA from Oberlin College and an MFA in Fiction Writing from the University of Minnesota. What my background as a writer gives me is a respect for each individual’s story and the ability to hear and value a client’s own perspective on their health and their goals for care.
I am an Upledger Institute Certified CranioSacral Therapist, and have trained in a variety of other bodywork modalities including Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, Oncology Massage and Manual Lymph Drainage. I am certified in the Vodder method of Manual Lymph drainage by Klose Training. I am a Licensed Acupuncturist with certification from the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I graduated with a Masters of Oriental Medicine from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2009 and have taken continued training in acupuncture for orthopedic and neurologic conditions and support for oncology patients.
My areas of treatment expertise include chronic headaches such as migraines and post-concussion as well as neurological conditions, including post-stroke treatment, cerebrovascular disease, upper motor neuron diseases, and peripheral neuropathies. I have extensive experience helping people manage orthopedic pain from arthritis and spinal problems. I also have significant experience helping people recover from surgeries, and remain resilient during and after care for cancer.
I am originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but have lived in the Twin Cities since 1991. In my spare time I love training my rescue dog and taking him for long hikes. I love cooking and reading and spending time with my partner, Martha, on our front porch in South Minneapolis.
