Background & Massage Therapy Specialties
My thirty-one year career in the massage therapy profession began in Minneapolis where I received my initial training at Northern Lights School of Massage Therapy graduating in 1993. Since then I have had extensive training in advanced massage modalities including Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, Orthopedic Massage, Craniosacral Therapy, Positional Release, Active Isolated Stretching, Dermoneuromodulation and Oncology massage.
I have specialized my entire career in supporting people with chronic pain and complex medical conditions that require a massage therapist to adapt techniques for greater safety and efficacy to serve clients with complex health states. I am now an Emeritus Professor of Massage therapy at Northwestern Health Sciences University where I was part of the founding group of faculty in their massage training program.
Over my 23 years at NWHSU I supervised students in their clinical rotations in massage and taught courses in ethics and other professional skills and as part of an interdisciplinary team helped develop and teach the initial course in Evidence Informed Practice for Massage Therapy. I was awarded the Faculty Excellence in Teaching award along with my team members for our work on that course in 2009.
My approach to massage is shaped by careful listening and assessment and blending techniques as needed to the individual client. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how massage therapy can help you. Set up an intake appointment today.
